Before planting your pepper plant, snip off all of the unhealthy looking or smaller leaves toward the base(rootball), leaving only the biggest and healthiest leaves on your seedling. This will give you a strong stem.
Water your pepper plants thoroughly, especially in the beginning stages of growth. In dry, hot climates, you could need to water up to a gallon a day.
Keep in mind that most pepper plants take a while to produce buds (up to a month at times). So be patient.
Fertilize your pepper plants while filling your Topsy Turvy® for the first time. Follow the directions on the fertilizer you have chosen. Be careful, too much nitrogen will burn your plants and kill them. You should fertilize only one more time when your peppers are very small (about 2cm). Again, follow the instructions on your fertilizer.
Temperatures over 90 degrees F can damage your pepper plants. Make sure to thoroughly water your plants on the really hot days and keep them in the shade most of the day, where it is cooler. Return them to the sun when the temperature is cools down a bit.
For a bountiful harvest, you should always cut your peppers off by their stems with a knife or scissor. You can have an almost-continuous harvest from your pepper plants by cutting often. This encourages the plant to keep blossoming, especially in the beginning of the summer.
